Hi, I'm Shelby

I’m a writer and editor living in Chicago, but I hail from Charleston, SC.

I write about food, fashion, entertainment and culture in the Chicago area. At the same time, I cover group health care, the Affordable Care Act, prescription drugs and other employee benefits topics for Business Insurance magazine, a Crain Communications publication.

In my spare time (if I can find any), I write a lifestyle blog called The Fringe, where I talk fashion and food and anything else that I’m feeling in the moment. And I’m always tweaking this site to flex my muscles as a budding web designer.

I studied journalism at Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism, where I got my master’s in journalism in 2014, and English (writing and publication) at Clemson University in South Carolina (’13).

I’m endlessly ambitious. I’m always looking for job and freelance opportunities. Thanks for stopping by.
